Michael Nolan was admitted to UW Health for a liver transplant due to alcoholic cirrhosis. Facing the reality of imminent death, he reflected deeply on the choices that had led him there. This became a turning point—a moment of surrender and a commitment to rely on God’s will.

Defying the odds, Michael was released from the hospital. Surviving the transplant was a miracle that reignited his sense of purpose and direction.
September 3, 2020
Michael underwent hernia surgery. During his recovery, he found himself increasingly concerned about the state of the world. News of societal challenges—from pandemic-related issues to cultural upheavals—fueled his resolve to make a difference.
September – December 2020
In this season of introspection, Michael wrestled with the meaning of his second chance at life. He experienced a profound personal transformation, comparing it to the symbolic rebirth of baptism. Determined to contribute meaningfully, he envisioned a role for the Church as a beacon of hope and restoration.

Now able to lift more than 10 pounds under his doctor’s guidance, Michael took a job at Prairie Hill Meats, where he remains employed to this day.
January 3, 2021
With the holidays behind him and fully recovered from his surgeries, Michael attended church for the first time in two years. Inspired by Life Church’s “Lego Church” series, he began to conceptualize Gatekeepers Solutions—a ministry aimed at raising community leaders to guard schools and libraries from harmful influences.
March 2021
Gatekeepers Solutions hosted its first Christianity and Constitutional Law seminar at Life Church, featuring attorney Jeremy Ramsey. With 158 attendees, the event established a strong foundation for the organization’s mission.
March 16, 2021
Michael Nolan was appointed Precinct Committeeman for Rockton 9, marking his entry into local Republican leadership.
April 21, 2021
Gatekeepers Solutions officially filed its Articles of Incorporation with the State of Illinois, solidifying its commitment to protecting societal “gates.”
May 2021
The organization launched Biblical Citizenship courses and Christianity and Constitutional Law seminars in Winnebago County. These initiatives aimed to recruit poll watchers, election judges, and candidates with a biblical worldview.
June 29, 2022
Michael Nolan was chosen as an Area Captain in Rockton, expanding his role in local governance. He worked with local churches to educate congregations about civic involvement, drawing inspiration from the “Committees of Correspondence” of the Revolutionary War.
August 8, 2023
Michael and community members hosted a "BRAVE Books" reading event at the Rockton Talcott Library, reinforcing Gatekeepers’ educational mission.
September 2023
Gatekeepers had conducted Biblical Citizenship courses in four churches and three Christianity and Constitutional Law seminars. These events successfully recruited poll watchers, election judges, and candidates aligned with a biblical worldview, amplifying local impact.
October 2023 – present
Gatekeepers works on creating a faith based private homeschool co-op, “Gatekeepers Academy”, as an alternative for parents who don’t want public education. This initiative reflected the organization’s commitment to raising the next generation to follow Jesus and value freedom.

Michael recruits additional PCs to help the conservatives
June 2024
Michael is elected to be Chairman for the Rockton Township Republican Central Committee positioning him for more impact.
July 2024
Michael hosted a “Civic Sizzle” event outside Prairie Hill Meats, raising awareness about local governance and engaging potential candidates. This event planted the seed for Michael’s candidacy as Rockton Township Supervisor.
August 2024
Michael is committed to candidacy for Rockton Township Supervisor, bringing his vision of faith-driven leadership to the forefront.
Inspired by other Township PCs he moves to conduct a Republican Caucus in lieu of Primary method of nomination.
November 2024
Michael filed objections to the candidacy of others misrepresenting their affiliations. While the challenges were overruled due to bias, they highlighted his commitment to transparency and integrity.
December 3, 2024
In a historic first, Rockton Township held a Republican caucus. Probably its first in ever. Michael was nominated as the Republican candidate for Township Supervisor for the April 2025 election.
December 2024
Michael has been working and exploring ways to expand the Township’s General Assistance program without raising additional costs. He envisions collaboration with local churches to provide emotional and spiritual support without increased taxes. He is also thinking of incorporating the State’s Attorney’s “Deferred Prosecution” Program with local churches to offer pathways to restoration for those in need.

Life Church is on “We Have Work to Do” series, Michael reflected on Gatekeepers’ and how to grow its influence. With initiatives impacting schools, libraries, and township boards, the foundation was set for lasting community impact.

A past felony DUI from 2014 surfaced, raising concerns about its omission on his candidacy statement. Michael acknowledged the oversight and inspired by the vision, he resolved to address the challenge head-on.
January 10, 2025
Refusing to give up, and relying on what he believes is Gods will, Michael is consulting a local attorney and judge to explore obtaining a “Certificate of Good Conduct.” He also informed his team, ensuring they stayed ahead of the situation while preparing to move forward with transparency and determination.
February 12, 2025
The Circuit Court denied the Certificate of Good Conduct because felony DUIs are ineligible for a Certificate of Good Conduct. The Circuit Court still has authority over the statutory office of Township Supervisor so Nolan is still on the April 1st Ballot and will argue for his redemption at a Quo Warranto hearing if action is taken. Nolan believes that after rehabilitation, redemption is for everyone, and his DUI case isn’t exempt from redemption.
